“Too many guys think I’m a concept, or I complete them, or I’m gonna make them alive. But I’m just a fucked-up girl who’s lookin’ for my own peace of mind; don’t assign me yours.”—Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, 2004
Happy New Year everyone. I know I’ve been kind of MIA lately but I promise it’s all good. I got a new laptop because my old one crapped out on me. It’s cool though, because the new one is all schmancy. I’ve been itching to test drive it, but of course life gets in the way.
So here’s the deal: I’m going to bust my ass for the next month and a half. Getting Over Edie should be finished by mid-February. How is that possible, you ask? Because I’ll be pretty much posting a chapter a week. While it seems like the story just started, there’s a LOT of stuff that goes on in these next couple chapters. Chapter Four is shaping up nicely and should be out by the end of next week. It’s a new year and I’m stepping up my writing game.
With the conclusion of Getting Over Edie, I’ll be dusting off Giving Up the Ghost. It’s gonna be revamped, re-edited, and jump-started. Last year, I had no idea where to go with the story, but now things are clear. It’s been weighing on my mind heavily and I just need to get these thoughts out of my head and down on paper, so to speak. It’s semi-autobiographical, and I suppose that was a big factor in the holdup. At the time, I was in the thick of things and couldn’t really see the big picture. But a lot has happened in a year and it’s given me some perspective. So, look for that in February.
